RC Timer FR2306 2650 Kv quad motor initial impressions

Hi Everyone -

The mailman delivered my RC Timer FR2306 2650 Kv motor today, only took 6 and 1/2 weeks 😊

Here are a couple of pictures showing side view and top view comparisons with the FR2205 2550 Kv motor.

I think it is pretty easy to tell them apart, even though the FR2306 is only 1 mm taller and wider.  Which is good, because I will be removing the label from it before flying as all my labels came off the FR2205 motors, so better to remove them before flight so they can't foul the prop or motor.

The FR2306 2650 Kv with prop, X mount and connectors weighs a bit more at 52 gr/1.8 oz, the FR2205 weighs 44 gr/1.6 oz.

I have done one quick bench test with the 6x4 APC prop using a Turnigy Plush 60A ESC with timing set to low and a freshly charged Zippy Flightmax 2200 3S 40C battery.

50% throttle - 10.8A/131.8W producing 406 gr/14.3 oz of thrust;

100% throttle - 29A/336W producing 782 gr/27.6 oz of thrust.

For comparison, the bench test numbers on the FR2205 2550Kv motor under essentially the same conditions with the same prop are

50% throttle - 10.5A/128.2W producing 416 gr/14.7 oz of thrust;

100% throttle - 27.5A/320.5W producing 788 gr/27.8 oz of thrust.

I have updated my Park Jet motor bench test spreadsheet with the new numbers.

I admit I was a bit surprised at how close the numbers were on the bench, but they are very close in size and Kv, so I suppose that is to be expected.  I'm hoping the FR2306 motor will have a bit more "grunt" as it is slightly bigger, but perhaps they are too close in size and Kv to tell.  Only one way to find out, drop it in a plane and give it a thrash!😎

Cheers,

Scott
